A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late James Morris and Maggie Cornelia Pack Craig. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Laurel Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Marie Dotson Craig; four sons, Ernest Clinton Craig and Paul Daniel Craig of Dana; James David Craig of Fruitland; Charles Michael Craig of Zirconia; four daughters, Ruby Jean Aikins of Dana; Doris Juanita Sherbert and Blanche Katherine Barnes both of Hendersonville and Nancy Faye Covil of Webster, Fla.; three brothers, Buster Brown Craig and Joseph Richard Craig, both of Asheville; and William Fletcher Craig of Hendersonville; a sister, Sally Serena Sharpe of Asheville; 34 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Nesbitt's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jesse Shipman, Paul Dotson, and Kenneth Lytle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Jackson Funeral Service, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Jackson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
