CATHERINE MARTIN, A CHEROKEE BORN IN NO GEORGIA ON MARCH 1, 1828. AT THE AGE OF 10 YRS SHE WAS FORCEFULLY REMOVED ALONG WITH MOST OF THE CHEORKEE NATION BY THE U.S. GOVERNMENT TO THE INDIAN TERRITORY OR WHAT IS KNOWN AS "THE TRAIL OF TEARS". HER FAMILY SETTLED IN NORTH EAST ARKANSAS WHERE SHE WAS MARRIED TO HOSEA O'NEAL IN 1850. THEY HAD FOUR SONS AND ONE DAUGHTER. JOHN C, GEORGE L, HENRY R, CANDY AND MAHALIA E.
THEY LIVED IN ARKANSAS AND MISSOURI UNTIL AFTER THE CIVIL WAR. IN 1880 THEY WERE LIVING ON A HOMESTEAD IN EASTLAND CO. 2 MI SOUTH WEST OF PIONEER. SHE DIVORCED HOSEA IN 1881 AND MARRIED ELIAS LOVETT IN 1894 AND LIVED WITH HIM UNTIL HIS DEATH.
