JAMES F. QUILTY, SR.

NILES - James F. Quilty Sr.,
91, 803 Sullivan St.,died of a
heart ailment at 8:25 a.m.
Thursday, July 27, 2000, in
Florida Hospital in Orlando.
Born May 7,
1909, in Niles,
he was a son of
William and
Sara Murphy
Quilty.
A lifetime
Niles resident,
he was a press
operator at the
Niles General
Electric Plant
for 41 years, retiring in 1973.
A 1927 Niles McKinley High
School graduate, he belonged to
St. Stephen's Church. He was an
avid reader, traveler, golfer and
sports fan. He was a reader for
the Mahoning Valley Society for
the blind, belonged to Niles
Knights of Columbus Council
1681 and was vice president of
the McKinley High School
Alumni Association for many
years.
His wife, Sarah E. Ring, whom
he married Aug. 27, 1935, died
March 27, 1997.
Survivors include four sons,
William J. of Centerville, James
F. Jr. of Rocky River, Michael E.
of Orlando, Fla., and Dennis of
Niles, one daughter, Joyce A.
Quilty Meade of Unionville,
Canada, 13 grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren.
A brother, John, two sisters,
Hannah Goldburg and Nora C.
Quilty; and a grandson are
deceased.
The funeral mass will be held
10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St.
Stephen's Church. Calling hours
will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Funeral Home in Niles.
Burial will be at the church
cemetery.
The family requests material
tributes be made to the McKinley
Memorial Library in Niles, the
St. Stephen's School Tuition
Angel Fund or the Morningstar
School, 161 Leigh Ave., Orlando,
Fla., 32809.
