Clara E. Derra, 77, of Paxton passed away after a long fight on Friday (March 20, 2015) at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Gifford United Methodist Church. Pastor Lisa Wiedman will officiate. Burial will follow in Ludlow Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, is handling the arrangements.

Clara was born Oct. 23, 1937, in Gifford, a daughter of Clancy and Laverna (Reynolds) Richardson. She married Otto Derra on Feb. 17, 1957, in Gifford. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2008.

She is survived by six children, Gene (Heather) Derra of Tuscola, Duane Derra of Paxton, Glen Derra of Paxton, Christie (David) Foster of Potomac, Glenda Brown of Urbana and Donna Shook of DeLand, Fla.; a sister, Carol Zeeb of Lakeland, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six siblings and her parents.

Clara enjoyed knitting, crocheting and canning. She loved her family and appreciated the time she spent with them.

In her younger days, she enjoyed gardening and going to garage sales.
