1. Bernice C. "Nicey" Jackson of Lewes died Saturday, June 3, 2000, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 73.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Lewes, the daughter of the late Liston and Viola Johnson Wright. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Israel United Methodist Church in Lewes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harland I. Jackson, in March 1985; and a granddaughter, Gwendolyn Sheppard Doughty in October 1995.
She is survived by four daughters, Evelyn Dunning, Vonnie Burton and Darlene Jackson, all of Lewes, and Donnie Witke of Georgetown; a son, Jerry Jackson of Lewes; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Israel U.M. Church, Five Points, near Lewes, where friends may call two hours prior to service, and where the Rev. Annie Jane Custis will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro.

She departed this life at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, De. She was 73. Bernice met & married, Harland Jackson on December 24, 1947, and to this union they were blessed with five loving children. She was a homemaker, easygoing, soft spoken, always ready to lend a hand. She was a devoted & caring mother.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Harland Jackson, in March 1985 & a granddaughter, Gwendolyn Sheppard Doughty in October 1995. She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Evelyn Dunning, Bonnie Burton & Darlene Jackson, of Lewes, De., & Donnie Witke of Georgetown, De., a son Jerry Jackson of Lewes, De.. nine grandchildren, Tyniece Stokes, Shannon Street, Tykiesha Frazier, Jerry Jackson, Jr., Bruce Burton, Jr., Carrie Burton, Jennifer & Christine Witke, four great-grandchildren, Raymond Spruill, Jr., Frederick Young, Jr., Kieosha Frazier, Gmesha Frazier & Timarias Stokes Perry & a host of nephews, nieces & other relatives and friends.
