Henry married Maranda E. Rogers (1842-1918) in December, 1860, and he died in 1879, in Tallahatchie Co, MS. Their children are: Adelia Eliza, Andrew Jackson, Alice, William Cornelius, Tina, Julia M., and Lucy. Henry fought in the Civil War in the 1st MS Cavalry, Co. E, a/k/a Co. E, Wood's Regiment of Confederate Cavalry (CSA) and lost one of his legs in a battle.
Henry's father, Josiah Dupont Bryan, was the son of Dr. Fortunatus Bryan, (1776-1821) a/k/a "Doc Forts" of Beaufort Co., SC, and Elizabeth Goodbee Dupont (1779-1811) (daughter of Ann & Josiah Dupont) who were married in Tatavia, SC on the Congaree on April 30, 1805.
Henry's grandfather, Dr. Fortunatus Bryan, was the son of progenitor Anderson Bryan of South Carolina who is believed to have immigrated from Ireland and according to family tradition aided Thomas Jefferson in many pursuits.
