Jehu, who went by the name of "John", served as a Private, Company H, 1st Delaware Infantry during the Civil War.

He enlisted in the 1st Delaware on October 3, 1861 for a 3 year term. He was noted as being 26 years old, a farmer, and residing in New Castle County, Delaware.

Jehu was wounded in the leg during the Battle of Antietam.

He "Died of Wounds" of the wound in Frederick, Maryland during the war.
