In memory of Mary Maude Marks
Once more we are called to lay away a charter member of District Sixteen's Social Club. When a young girl, she came with her parents and family to our community from Plattsmouth. She attended school her and later attended the Ashland city schools. A few years after the family returned to Plattsmouth, where she met H. Elmer Eikenbary and they were united in marriage Jan. 9, 1895. They made their home at Plattsmouth for about three years then returned to the farm of her girlhood days and fitted right into real farm life.

Her three younger children were born, raised and attended our school. She and her family were prominent figures in the social life of our District, always ready to lend a helping hand to friend or stranger. Many are the times we have helped her to trim the midnight lamp.

After her husband's death Dec. 8, 1918, she remained here a couple of years then with the three younger children moved to Lincoln. Her happy disposition made her many warm friends, who sympathize with her in the loss of their dear mother.
Mrs. Eikenbary passed away at the home of her son, Earl, last Sunday morning after an illness of four months.
