Major League Baseball Player. He was a catcher for three teams in nine years in the major leagues. He broke in with the Boston Red Sox in 1937, playing for them through the 1944 midseason. He spent the rest of 1944 and 1945 with the Philadelphia Phillies and with the Brooklyn Dodgers for part of 1945. During his career he batted a modest .262 with 194 runs batted in. His best full year at the plate was 1938 when he batted .303.
