Bert Campbell, 66, lifetime resident of Blair and vincinity, died unexpectedly Monday morning at his home, Ninth and State Street. He was found dead in bed.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Methodist Church, the Rev. Sidney L. McCaig officiating. Burial, with arrangements in charge of the Campbell Mortuary, took place in Blair Cemetery.
Mr. Campbell was born at DeSoto 12 May 1881, and had lived in the region since except for three years in the U.S. Army at the time of the Spanish - American War.
On July 4, 1907 he and Catherine Stricklett were married. Six children were born to them.
Mr. Campbell had been baptized in the Methodist Church at the age of 13.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine; three sons, Milford, and Leslie Campbell both of Blair, and Howard Campbell of Kansas; and two daughters, Mrs. Vincent Hoffman (Mildred) and Mrs. Ben Moore (Laura), both of Blair; also 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A son, John Campbell, died in
infancy.
