Last Rites Held Here For Henry Avery
Funeral rites were held Monday afternoon at the Keeler church for Henry A. Avery, 93, who died Friday night at the home of his son, Bert, at Lawton, following a long illness. The Rev. Frank Flagg, Dowagiac, officiated, with burial at the Keeler cemetery.
Avery was born in Union-Porter township, Cass county. He married Helen Anderson Benson in 1880. She died several years ago.
Besides his son, Bert, Avery is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mae Swartz and Mrs. Blanch Imms of Dowagiac and Mrs. Bonnie Nothdruft of Three Rivers. There are two step-children, John Benson of Benton Harbor and Mrs. David Rowe of Keeler. Also surviving are a brother, Frank Avery, of Keeler, 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
