Lon Lucas, 88, Okeechobee, Florida, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Hamrick Home. Born March 2, 1920 in Connersville, Indiana, he lived in Indianapolis until he moved to Okeechobee in 1988. Fishing and golf were Mr. Lucas' favorite past times, proudly including his three hole in ones. Mr. Lucas served the US Army in WW II in Company C 110th Infantry. Lon is preceded in death by his twin brother, Leo, and two sisters, Rosemary Wright and Lucille Goodrich. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosie Lucas of Okeechobee, daughter, Patricia Crowder (Billy) of Okeechobee. Also surviving him is his granddaughter, Diana Box of Fresno, California, grandson: David Montgomery of Zionsville, Pennsylvania, 10 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. There will be no visitation or services. In lieu of any flowers the family requests for donations to be made in his memory to the National Kidney Foundation of Florida, Palmetto Build #119, 1040 Woodcock Road, Orlando, Florida 32803. All services are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
