Eugene Bartlette Price served with CO I, First South Carolina Volunteer Infantry.
"The 'Richland Volunteers' were organized at Columbia, South Carolina, and marched to Camp Ellerbe, May 3rd, 1898; they were mustered into United States service May 20th, 1898, as Company I of the 1st South Carolina Infantry Regiment, United States Volunteers, under Captain Charles Newnham. The Company remained in camp until June 6th, 1898, when it proceeded by rail to Chickamauga Park, Georgia, where it was assigned to the 1st Army Corps. Moved by rail, July 28th, 1898, from Rossville, Georgia, to Camp Cuba Libre, Florida, where it was assigned to the 7th Army Corps. Left Camp Cuba Libre for rendezvous at Columbia, South Carolina, September 24th, 1898, where it was furloughed for thirty days from September 29th, 1898, except guards and officers, who were on waiting orders. At the expiration of furlough the company was mustered out of service by Ezra B. Fuller, Captain, 7th Cavalry, chief mustering officer."

At age 19, Eugene Bartlette Price listed Clifford Cleveland Hood as his “best friend” on his military pension record. Later, Eugene married Frances Elizabeth McLean and Clifford married her sister Eleanore (Nora) McLean.
