William Gillespie Snoddy, was born in Knox Co. Tenn., Aug. 10th 1831, died march 10th 1912, he would have been 81 years old the 10th of next Aug. He professed faith in Christ in Knox Co. when he was a young man and joined the Cumberlain Presbyterian Church and has lived a consistent member ever since, he was a true and faithful christian, a kind and loving husband and father. He was united in marriage to Sarah Bradley in Knox Co., in 1859. He was the father of 8 children 3 girls and 5 boys all of whom are still living, they are all grown and married, and are now living in four differant states, one in California, one in Texas, four in Okla, and two in Tenn. The two that are still in Tenn. are Mrs. S.G. Hinton of Greenback No. 4., and Mrs. Matt Pate of Maryville. His wife died in Blount Co. Tenn., 13 years ago and he has made his home with his youngest son Tom since her death. They sold their farm and went to Okla., 10 years ago and was living near Hunter, when death came to him, he contacted a severe cold durring the cold bad winter, but was thought to be better. He got up out of bed and ate some breakfast, walked out on the porch, came back and sat down in a chair and died before they could get him in bed.
Wile we feel sad to part with a loving father,
we know he has only gone on to meet his loved ones and to await our coming. We should not sorrow as those have no hope.
