During the Civil War Levi served in the 19th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Co. B.

Levi Augustine, aged resident of Coitsville, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Friday (March 21) in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Horace O Lett. Mr. Augustine had passed his 77th year and death was due to the infirmities of old age. Mr. Augustine was born in Coitsville June 18,1841. For some years he lived in Vienna, then moved to Hubbard where he lived until the death of his wife fifteen months ago. Since that time he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Lett. He leaves two sons, E.L. Augustine of this city and William Augustine of Hubbard, and one daughter, Mrs. Lett; also one grandchild, four sisters and two brothers. Mr. Augustine was a member of the Hubbard Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday from the Lett residence with the Rev. Stewart officiating. Interment will be made in Maple Grove cemetery, Hubbard.
