FRANK FARRAR PASSES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Frank E. Farrar, esteemed resident of Prentiss, died at a Columbia hospital early Sunday morning after an illness of several months. During the long period of hospitalization his beloved wife remained at his bedside to lend the comfort of her presence and to see that everything possible was done to restore him to health. Everything human hands could do to allay the ravages of disease was done, but he failed to respond to treatment, and though he fought valiantly for life, the end came after weeks of fighting a constantly losing battle.

Mr. Farrar was 52 years of age and had made his home in Prentiss about fifteen years, having moved here from Crystal Springs. He was first engaged in the filling station business, and later worked for the Mississippi Testing Laboratories. For the past few years he had been successfully engaged in the grocery and market business.

Mr. Farrar was a good man. He was a great lover of home and family. He had a deep love for little children and always felt compassion for the unfortunate. He will be sorely missed by loved ones and friends.

Funeral rites were held from the Prentiss Baptist Church Monday at 2:30 P. M. with his pastor, Dr. W. L. Sewell in charge, assisted by Rev. G. Eliot Jones, pastor of the Prentiss Methodist Church and Rev. Cox of Hazlehurst. Interment was made in the Prentiss Cemetery with the Masons in charge. Active pall bearers were members of the Masonic Lodge and honorary bearers were Messrs. P. W. Berry, Jr., George Berry, W. J. Hubbard, Lewis Williams, Harry Williams, Ralph Baylis, Fred Dale, C. A. Luper, Howard Hartzog, Guy Sutton, Harlos Everitt, Gray Griffith, Curtis Bishop, C. R. Quinn, C. R. Jolly, Jim Williams, I. L. Foster, L. G. Parker, L. U. Burkes, Buford Smith, H. C. Polk, Clyde Luper, S. L. Lee, J. R. Lee, Shelby Coulter, Robert Tyrone, M. M. Davis, B. C. Griffith, Johnnie Davis, Dr. N. O. Tyrone, Dr. H. G. Williams, Dr. W. S. Berry and Dr. James Everitt.

Immediate survivors are his wife, Mrs. Annie Forbes Farrar; one son, Frank Farrar; three sisters, Mrs. N. R. Tyrone, Prentiss; Mrs. Cleo Bozeman, Crystal Springs; Mrs. D. L. Roberson, Oakland, California; four brothers, R. A. and A. C. Farrar, Wesson; T. M. Farrar, Hazlehurst, and J. D. Farrar, Texas.
