Charlie Wisdom, 73, of Thalia, Texas passed away December 1, 1961 in the Foard County Hospital after a short illness. He was born September 15, 1888, in Valley View, Texas a son of William May and Octavia Wheelock Wisdom. He grew up in Cooke County and came to Foard County Texas in 1913 with his brothers, A.B. and Monty to farm land owned by W.H. Dougherty. He married Nora Ethel Porter February 22, 1913 at Gainesville in Cooke County, Texas. He was a faithful member of the Thalia Church of Christ for 45 years and a loyal member of the Thalia Masonic Lodge for 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Nora of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Mae (Ross) Whitaker, Mrs. Mary (Don) Palmer of Watsonville, California, Mrs. Pauline (Ott) Whitaker of Amarillo, Texas and Mrs. Johnnie Ruth (Bill) Mixon of Fritch, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Mickey of Amarillo and Mrs. L.S. Davis of Lubbock; two brothers, Monte Wisdom of San Gabriel, California and A.B. Wisdom of Thalia, Texas; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Thalia Church of Christ Sunday afternoon, December 3 at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Paul Rotenberry of Abilene was in charge of the services,assisted by the Thalia Minister, Welton Nickel. Music was furnished by a choir from the Vernon church. Pallbearers were Jim Moore, Leon Taylor, J.D. Miller, R.H. Cooper, Ira Tole, Bill Cates, Loyd Fox, Cecil Carpenter, J.M. Jackson and Raymond Grimm. Flower bearers included Mmes. Blanche Sims, Blanche Tole, Texas Ford, Deloyd Robertson, Gladys Moore, Maggie Capps, Clyde Self, Merle Wright, Peggy Carpenter, Mildred Martin, Opal Grimm, Axie Cooper, Pearl Kuehn, Katy Taylor, Wanda Cates, Betty Moore, Pearl Moore, Annie Shultz, Helen Absont and Miss Odessa Moore.Burial was in the Thalia Cemetery under direction of Womack Manaard Funeral Home of Crowell. Graveside services were conducted by Thalia Lodge No. 666 AF & AM. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son who died at birth.
