"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 36, No 3, p 3, Jan. 15, 1880. At Alfred Centre, N. Y., at midnight, January 10th, 1880, of heart disease, Mrs. Orpha Crandall Stillman, wife of Phineas C. Stillman, in the 66th year of her age. She had been at times a great but patient sufferer for several months. Nearly the whole of her life was spent in Alfred. While yet in youth, she was, through grace, enabled to giver heart to Christ, and united with the First Seventh-day Baptist Church of Alfred, of which she remained a faithful member until removed by death. Her life was one of gentleness, simplicity, purity, faith, and good will. In the church and in society she filled her place without ostentation, but with faithfulness. But it was in her home-life that the noble qualities of her judgment and heart appeared in their fullness. As a wife, mother, friend, and neighbor, her life was one of singular completeness. Of her we never heard other than words of kindness and goodwill. In her sickness, every attention possible was given her. Not a duty was left undone. At the time of her death, all her children were with her. In great tenderness she parted with these and her husband, and other friends about her, falling quietly asleep in Christ, whom she loved with her whole heart. transcribed by Jon Saunders, contributor 47674050
