Newport News - Harry Perry Morris, 90, died Sunday, September 14, 1997, at Riverside Regional Convalescent Center. Born November 20, 1906 in Kahoka, Missouri, he was a Peninsula resident for 37 years. Harry was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, former member of the board of directors of the Peninsula Boys' Club and a charter member of the Denbigh Kiwanis Club. He was manager of Beck's City Bakery from 1960 to 1967 and retired in 1976 after working in management for several bakeries in Norfolk. Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Gertrude Elizabeth Bocke Morris, two daughters, two sons, one brother, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive fiends from 6 to 7:30 pm Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and Mass will begin at 7:30 p.m. conducted by Monsignor Michael D. McCarron. Interment will be at 10 am on Thursday in Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Weymouth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
