Mrs. Frank E. Hagan of Corning, died at a Creston hospital Sunday morning, January 16, 1916. The body was brought to her late home in our city Sunday evening and the funeral services were held this (Wednesday) afternoon at the home at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. R. J. Rutt, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Alma Anna VanWagenen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac VanWagenen, was born in Washington Township, near Mt. Etna, Iowa, December 23, 1884, being aged 31 years and 23 days at the time of her death. She came with her parents to Corning In 1890 and entered the Corning school, graduating with the class of 1903.

On the 16th of January, 1915, she was united in marriage to Frank E. Hagan, of Spaulding, Iowa, and they made their home in Corning until the time of her call in death. In the family Mrs. Hagan was the youngest of three children. She leaves her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac VanWagenen, and one brother James VanWagenen, of Northumberland, Washington, D.C. One brother Newton VanWagenen preceded his sister in death and Mrs. Hagan was laid to rest by his side. When about 13 years of age Mrs. Hagan united with the United Brethren church. She was very well known in Corning and had a large circle of friends. For some time she was employed in the millinery department of the Turner store, and many learned to love her because of her sunny disposition. Six weeks ago Mrs. Hagan went to the
hospital in Creston for an operation and complications arose from which she could not recover. She suffered with great courage and was resigned to the will of the Heavenly Father. Many relatives from a distance came to attend the funeral. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved ones.
