Mr. Gregory Wayne Cordell, 37, 133 River Road, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was a native of Washington County and was the son of Clois Cordell of Elizabethton and the late Wayne Cordell. In addition to father he was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Lou Cordell Wilson and Mary Ruth Cordell Medley. He was of the Missionary Baptist Faith and he enjoyed restoring vintage cars.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Cordell is survived by his girlfriend, Sherry Wilson; his ex-wife, Belinda Cordell; both of Elizabethton and two nieces, Becky Wilson, Hampton and Samantha Reece, Elizabethton. Several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Cordell will be conducted on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Matthew Guy officiating. Music will be provided by the Glory Bound Singers. Interment will follow at Flat Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Frank Stout, Ricky Reece, John Burker, Joe Vance, Jason Matheson and Mike Harrell. Bobby Clawson will be an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends from Noon – 2:00 PM Monday prior to the service and at the residence at other times.
