"We presume there are not many of our old citizens now remaining, who were acquaintet with Mrs. Sarah G. Bryant, whose death is announced in another column. Maj. Bryant, her husband, was among the earliest settIers of this city {Galveston, Texas}, but left with his family for Corpus Christi nearly twenty years ago, and was waylaid and killed two or three years after, leaving a widow, and several children then quite young. It is but a year or two since her eldest son, Mr. Chas. C. Bryant, removed his mother from Corpus Christi to Burleson county, where she died on the 10th inst. The surviving family will have the sincere sympathy of many friends here and at Corpus Christi, in their bereavement.

Mrs. Bryant had been a consistant member of the Baptist Church for near fifty years, but is believed to have become a convert to the modern doctrine of Spiritualism. She was sick about twelve days before her death, during which time she suffered much."
