Frank Guiser
(From Spring Valley Sun)

Funeral services were held Saturday May 15, 1958, at the New Centerville Methodist church for Frank Guiser, prominent Martell farmer, who died on Wednesday, May 12, of a stroke.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Alfred J. Dale, resident pastor, and Rev. Lloyd Asp, of Hudson. Vocal selections, "Softly and Tenderly," and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" were given by Gerald Hop and Miss Huenick of Baldwin. Mrs. Guy Wiff accompanied at the piano. Burial was at Mount Olivet cemetery in the family plot beside the remains of his brother, John, who died in 1939 and his brother William who died in 1940. Pallbearers were Robert, Donald and Wm. Rudesill, brothers and grand nephews of Mr. Guiser and another set of brothers, Elton and Lambert Nelson and Harley Rudesill, cousins of the Rudesill brothers.

Mr. Frank Guiser was born May 7, 1874 in the home where he spent his entire life, the son of Louis and Sarah Guiser. His 74th birthday was celebrated on May 7 with the entire family gathering to pay him tribute.

As a boy he attended the Kay common school and high school at River Falls. After high school he returned to his father's farm and made farming and cattle raising his lifetime occupation. After his father died in 1912 and his mother in 1920, Mr. Guiser and his brother John, as partner, carried on the farm operations. His partner and brother John, died in 1939. Since that time he operated his vast interests alone. He had not been in the best of health for some time and the past winter was spent in the home of his sister, Mrs. C. C. Wiff.

Mr. Guiser was by far the largest operator in the raising of feeder cattle in Pierce County. His farm interests and holdings were vast. He was one of the largest shippers to the South Saint Paul Livestock Market.

Mr. Guiser loved his work, loved his farm and loved its operation. He was a friend to everyone and he high esteem in which he was held by the community is a tribute to his character. He was a member of the New Centerville Methodist Church for 53 years. He was also a devout Christian and faithful Bible reader.

He died of a stroke in his barn Wednesday, May 19, at 5 p.m., just as he was preparing to mix feed for his cattle. Evidently feeling illness coming on, he had laid down on some sacks. He died a few minutes after being found. Mrs. Margaret E. Wiff and Mrs. N.A. Wiff of Glendora, California, survive him.

Besides Mrs. Wiff of California, others who attended the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Helen Pollard of Armstrong, Iowa, Richard Jones, Minneapolis, John Grailie, Spring Valley, Mrs. Walter Jackson, Eau Claire, and several business associates of South Saint Paul. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, and there were memorials given in his memory.
