Tessie Ferguson, age 80, of Wytheville, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999 in the Roanoke Community Hospital in Roanoke. Mrs. Ferguson was a member of the Maranantha Church of God in Wytheville and was a former hospice volunteer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson LaFayette and Minerva Elizabeth Parsons Church; her husband, William Thomas Ferguson; one sister and four brothers. Surviving are five daughters and son-in-law, Helen Ferguson Mize, Christine "Sis" Ferguson and Brenda Ferguson, all of Wytheville, Delores Ferguson Jones of Gorner, IL, Tammy Ferguson and Richard Gardner, of Waukegan, IL; one son and daughter-in-law, James T. and Mary Ferguson of Waukegan, IL; three sisters, Lessie Eller of Abingdon, MD, Pearl Wells of Boomer, NC, and Cola Scott of Wilkesboro, NC; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 6, at 1 p.m. at Barnett's Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tony Holley and the Rev. Steve Tilley officiating. Interment followed in the West End Cemetery. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Wythe County Rescue Squad. Barnett's Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of arrangements.
