CONDUCTED FOR EDNA R. D. POPE
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Roseltha Dudley Pope were conducted in the Maeser LDS Ward Chapel at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mrs. Pope died Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Uintah County hospital after giving birth to a baby boy. She was 45 years of age.
Mrs. Pope was born July 17, 1909 in Spring Coule, Alberta, Canada, daughter of Stephen Markham and Annie Pearl Dudley. She was married to Mark Pope February 1, 1932, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Survivors include the husband, parents, sons and daughters, the new baby, Phillip D., Wayne L., Larry E., Russell L., Mark J., Ross E., Valda L., Ruby C., Rose E., Ilene F. and Mrs. Agnes M. Hanks, all of Vernal; four grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
Burial was in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.
Prayer at the home prior to the service was offered by Lester Bingham. At the chapel the invocation was given by Alton J. Vernon. The Maeser First Ward quartet sang "Sometimes We'll Understand."
Speakers were Bishop Harvey McKee and President Archie Johnson with remarks by Bishop Ward Evans.
George C. Davis and Chellus M. Caldwell sang "Beyond the Sunset," and Mrs. Wallace Trottier song "Wonderful Mother of Mine." Benediction was by Dee Jenkins.
The grave in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery was dedicated by Fred G. Bingham. Pallbearers were Wayne, Phillip and Larry Pope, sons of Mrs. Mrs. Pope, Everett and Reed Pope, brothers-in-law and Percy Hanks, son-in-law.
Those attending the services from distant places included Mr. and Mrs. Stephen M. Dudley, Calgary, Canada; Steve M. Dudley, Paramount, California, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Woodard, Farmington, New Mexico and Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Dudley, Joseph, Utah.
