According to Colleen Belk’s book “Tombstone Inscriptions of Jasper County, Missouri, Vol. 10,” published by the Webb City Area Genealogical Society in 1982, there are four burials in the John H. Wilson lot, Section 1B, Lot 288, at Carterville Cemetery.

Three of the graves are marked and have been photographed; they belong to John H. Wilson; Joseph H. Beloat; and V. O. McMonigle. Mr. Beloat and Mr. McMonigle were sons-in-law of Mr. Wilson.

The fourth grave, according to Belk, is identified as "M. J. Wilson." Findagrave volunteer Lauren Mack reported in January 2012 that the fourth grave in this lot did not have a stone. "M. J." probably stands for Maud Jackson, as that is how she was known to family (her fourth husband, Henry Lee Jackson, probably died in Arkansas).

According to Maud's great-nephew, Harry Robert Wilson, Maud is buried here in Carterville Cemetery near her first husband, V.O. McMonigle, and two of her children.

Special thanks to Lauren Mack and Ronnie Wilson for their kind assistance.
