Houston, Feb. 23 -- UP -- A.J. Binford, 90-year-old pioneer cattleman who was a peace officer in Hempstead when it was known as "Six-Shooter Junction," died yesterday in a Houston hospital.
Binford's family moved to Texas from Arkansas in the last year of the War Between the States.
Binford moved to Houston 26 years ago from his ranch in Montgomery County. He recalled driving cattle along a trail which passed where the Rice Hotel now stands on the busiest corner in Houston.
