Wayne F. Cooper, 82, of Marshall, Ill. passed away at 7:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009. He was a retired Clark County farmer. He was born Feb. 17, 1927 in the Bullskin area of Clark County, Ill. the son of Fred Cooper and Tessie Inez Setzer Cooper. He married Edith M. Pickens on Nov. 6, 1949 in Clark County, Ill. Surviving are his wife, Edith; a daughter, Tess (Lonnie) Long; a son, Mike (Kathy) Cooper; grandchildren, Brian C. Long, Jeffrey A. Long and Cristina M. Eslinger, a great-grandchild, Cameron J. Eslinger; a sister, Dorothy Monroney; two cousins and four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law. He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; a step-mother, Marie Ewbank Cooper; two brothers, Phil and Larry Cooper. He was a member and past commander of Clark County Post 90 of the American Legion and VFW Post 5975. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he served in the Pacific. He was a graduate of Marshall High School.
