90 of Deptford NJ died Monday August 18 at Kennedy Memorial Hospital Washington Twp NJ. Born in Philadelphia PA he lived in Deptford Twp for 75 years. He was a farmer all his life. Sam worked at Vollmer's Poultry Farm in Deptford for 47 years serving eggs to many people in Deptford and Woodbury. He was the oldest member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church where he had served as Trustee Treasurer and Sunday School teacher. His favorite hobby was watching the Phillies play baseball.
Sam is survived by his wife of 69 years Hazel R. (nee Redrow) one son Samuel H. Baker Jr. (and his wife Kathryn) of Deptford two daughters Doris Philippi (and her husband Tom) and Joan B. Pratt (and her husband Richard) both of Washington Twp. 6 grandchildren. 7 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be on Friday at 11:00AM at DAVIS FUNERAL HOME 171 Delaware St. Woodbury NJ. Viewing from 9:00 to 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Hurffville. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Sharon United Methodist Church 1831 Delsea Drive Deptford NJ 08096.
