Funeral services for Phyllis Ashton Gardiner, 57, 2068 Wilmington Ave., will be Monday noon at Parley's 6th Ward Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2350-2100 East.

Mrs. Gardiner died Thursday of complications following heart surgery.

She was an active menber of the LDS Church and was a teacher and participant in Relief Society, Sunday School, Primary and Mutual.

Mrs. Gardiner was also a former elementary school teacher at Stratford, Emerson and McKinley schools in Salt Lake City.

She was born April 10, 1921, in Slat Lake City, to Marvin O. and Rae Jeremy Ashton. She was a graduate of East High School and the University of Utah. On March 28 1947, sje married Dan S. Gardiner Jr. in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She is survived by her husband, Salt Lake City, four daughters, Mrs. Michael R. (Marva)) Macey, Sandy; Danelle and Elizabeth, both Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Joel M. (Carolee) Scoville, Austin, Texas; son, Ted D., Salt Lake City; three grandchildren, sisters and brothers, Mrs. Louis R. (Afton) Curtis, Mrs. Howard C. (Eleanor) Badger, Wendell J. and Marvin J., all Salt Lake City.

Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Dr., and Monday from 11 a.m. until service. Interment will be in Berg Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 South.
