Julia Debard Shields is the daughter of Abraham Demoss Taylor & Elizabeth McCray. She is the granddaughter of Henry & Delilah (Demoss) Taylor. She was married John J. Shields, originally from Parrottsville (Cocke County) Tennessee. She was known to have been related to the 12th president, Zachary Taylor. She was named after her maternal aunt Julia (McCray)DeBard.

Their children are the following:

1. Mary (Mollie) Katherine Shields m. Samuel Burch
2. Julia "Alice" Shields m. John Wiley Hafner
3. William DeMoss Shields (my great grandfather)
4. Franklin Shields
5. Virginia "Benia" Shields m. George W. Cawthon
6. Verna C. Shields m. William Kelly/Gray

Mollie, Benia and Verna and families went on and moved from Dallas, Texas to Inglewood, California. Alice married and remained in Texas. It is believe that Franklin may have passed away in childhood. He is not listed on the 1900 census and should have been listed as he was only 10. My great-grandfather stayed in Dallas, Texas.
