Chester A. Bender, wholesale food and produce dealer for the past 20 years, died suddenly in his home in rural route 5 between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Bender went to sleep about 8 p.m. and it was not until his family tried to arouse him that his death was discovered. He suffered a heart attack.

A life long resident of Decatur, he was born here March 13, 1897, the son of David H. and Ida Bender. On Dec. 21, 1917, he was married to Ruth L. Burris.

Besides his wife, he leaves his mother, Mrs. Ida Bender, of rural route 5, and six children: Melvin, Rosemary, Billy and Jerry, all living at home; Everett, Wichita, Kan.; and Robert, Camp Perry, Williamsburg, Va.; two brothers, W.J. of Detroit and David H. of Decatur; two sisters, Mrs. Aaron Shelton and Mrs. M.M. Burris of Decatur, and two grandchildren.

Burial will be in Brush College cemetery.
