John Robert Humphrey is the son of Wash Humphrey and Alice Nunn Humphrey. Born in Cumberland County but traveled to Oklahoma on several occasions. In Oklahoma there were Aunts and Uncles along with several cousins. John also hauled freight by wagon and mules to Oklahoma. John's first marriage to Mattie Scott Humphrey ended in Chickashaw, Oklahoma, John returned home to Cumberland Co., and married my grandmother Ora Jenni Lee Long. John and Ora made at least one trip to Oklahoma after their marriage in 1913. John and Mary Alice lived in several different parts of the county, such as Salt Lick Bend, on the Big Hill, before the hotel was built, was in Jackson Hollow for many years.
