Mrs. Evans was born in Surry County on Jan. 22, 1935, to the late Leon and Pauline Samuel Coe.
Janie was a loving mother, grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She worked as an inspector for MacField Textiles and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Evans is survived by three loving children, Edgar and Jane Evans of Thomasville, Debra Nicholson of Pleasant Garden, and Donna Evans of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Jehnna Nicholson, Christopher Evans, Jocelyn Evans and Sydney Evans; one brother, Jerry Coe of Kernersville; one sister, Barbara Clenney of Charlotte.
She is preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lou Cardwell, and one brother Samuel Coe, and one son, Jeffrey Wayne Evans.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at Cox-Needham Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Kristi Rolison officiating with interment to follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Palliative Care of Wesley Long and Beacon Hospice Home.
