He was born in Woodstock on June 25, 1948 to James R. and Greta B. (Hutson) Carlisle. He married his high school sweetheart Carol A. Mass on July 24, 1965.
Philip was a graduate of St. Mary School and attended Marian Central High School and he was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock. After graduation he went on to trade school for construction and became a very well-known general contractor and owner of Carlisle Construction Inc. He built many beautiful homes and was proud to have poured the foundation for the Woodstock Band Shell on the Woodstock Square. He enjoyed music and was a member of the band P.M. Express. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, boating, and flying. He held his private pilot license for many years. He loved spending time in Wisconsin at his cabin on Squirrel Lake Island. He was a very determined person with a positive attitude who could do anything he put his mind to and he was always there to help someone in need. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carol A. Carlisle; his children, Diana Collins, and Ken (Val) Carlisle; his granddaughter, Katie Collins; his mother, Greta Carlisle; his mother in law, Mary Ann Mass; his siblings, Dr. Eugene (Phyllis) Carlisle, Mary Berkeimer, and Bernice Nevsimal; 9 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, and many close friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 9am until the time of the funeral mass celebrated at 11am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave. in Woodstock. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Philip's ex son in law, John Collins, for his donation of a kidney in 1999.
