Born in Hoboken, GA her parents were William Lawton & Mattie Williams Lane. She is also preceded by her husband, Colonel Ray Johns; and several brothers and sisters, Lois Coad, Hazel Byrd, Helen Crews, Thelma Lee, Robert Lane, Edna Lane, & Reba Lane.
Joyce was a homemaker and an active member of Nahunta First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her 6 children and their spouses, Deborah J. & Donald Griner of Nahunta, Michael & Virginia Johns of Nahunta, Judith D. Johns of Nahunta, Jan J. Free of North Carolina, Jerry L. & Tracy Johns of Macon and Rocky & Michelle Johns of Hoboken; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Jason Strickland (Lisa) of Hortense, Alysha S. A funeral service will be held Tuesday evening (July 1, 2014) at 3PM at Nahunta First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Carson. Burial will follow in Rob Lewis Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Strickland, David Johns, Jared Johns, Scott Henning, Grant Henning, Neil White and Tony Rowell. Honorary pallbearers will be John Thomas, Albert Thomas, Johnny Crews and the Heaven Bound Sunday School Class.
