MADISON - Kevin J. Houlihan, born on June 29, 1948, born to eternal life on Thursday, July 20, 2006. He passed away unexpectedly while in Minocqua. Kevin was born in Ashland, graduated from Wauwatosa West High School and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Kevin was employed by UW-Milwaukee from 1970 until 1986, when he moved to Madison in 1986. From 1986 until his death, Kevin worked for the City of Madison as City Risk Manager. He was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church, and professional as well as athletic associations.
Kevin coached his children's soccer and little league teams. He continued coaching soccer and refereeing. Kevin officiated soccer at the high school WIAA/Master level and the NISOA college level. Kevin will be sorely missed by the entire soccer community. He enjoyed Badgers football, traveling to warm weather climates, and was an avid golfer and enjoyed his daily run.
Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; devoted children; his cherished mother, Margaret; and an uncle, Keith (Helen) Houlihan. He was the beloved "Uncle Fred" to Anna and Krista; along with numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; and a nephew, Brian Lickman.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2006, with Father Tony Schumacher presiding. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
