Funeral service for Richard Hoke McNeil, 73, of Rt. 3, West Jefferson, who died Friday at the Ashe Memorial Hospital were conducted Monday, Oct. 9 at New River Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Goss, Rev. Jimmy Warden and Rev. Hunter Church officiated. Burial was in the New River Cemetery in Grassy Creek.
He was born in Wilkes County July 9, 1905 to Robert I. McNeil and Rosa Church McNeil.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eva Rutherford McNeil of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Polly Jackson of Tuscon, Arizona; two brothers, James Robert McNeil of Mt. Airy and Cecil Dickson McNeil of Winston-Salem; one sister, Miss Geraldine McNeil of Mt. Airy; two grandchildren also survive.
The family requests that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Ashelawn Memorial Gardens was in charge of services.
