Eldon H. Babcock, 72, of 508 Blair Place died Friday in Auburndale, Fla., after a brief illness. He was spending the winter there.

Mr. Babcock was born Aug. 5, 1888, in Painesville, a son of Frank L. and Caroline Hayward Babcock, and had lived here all his life. He was married to the former Ruth Gresmuck Parker on Jan. 11, 1910, in Mentor.

In 1960 he retired as store manager of the Educational Supply Co. for whom he had worked for 40 years.

Mr. Babcock was a member of the Church of Christ, Painesville Kiwanis Club, Temple Lodge No. 38, F&AM, Urania Chapter No. 284 Order of Eastern Star, Jr. UOAM, and Daughters of America.
