William Wilson, born June 9, 1905, in Halifax County, VA, closed the last chapter of his earthly pilgrimage on Sunday, June 9, 1985 at Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia. He was the son of the late Charles B. and Virginia Daniel Wilson. He spent his early childhood years in Halifax County, where he attended the public schools and, in his early youth, accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, joining the New Bethel Baptist Church. He left home at an early age with his childhood and lifelong friend, Claude Vaden, working in the states of West Virginia and New York, and finally journeying to Philadelphia in the early 1920's where he began working for the General Electric Company in 1926, in the Food Service Division. He rose to the position of Chief Executive Chef in a distinguished career that spanned 43 years. In 1933 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Cornelia Ellen Parker. Theirs was a union which abounded with love, kindness, understanding and was an inseparable relationship. He was a founder and member of the Ideal Men's Club, a benevolent association of twelve men, which has been in existence for 44 years. The memory of a life of love to family and friends is distinctly imprinted in the hearts of his remaining loved ones, which include his loving and devoted wife; four sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Hendricks, Mrs. Gracie Bouldin, Mrs. Pearl Nowlin, and Mrs. Marie M. Smith; one nephew, three nieces, two brother-in-laws, and many other relatives and friends.
