Funeral services for Adam Luis Anthony, 45 of Elida, will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at the Elida High School Gym with Rev. Herb Gage officiating and the Regional 3 EMS assisting. Burial will follow under Full Fire Department Honors at Elida Cemetery with the Elida Fire Department serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Family and friends.
Adam was born on August 9, 1964, in Portales to Ronald and Glenda Anthony and passed away on September 4, 2009, outside Ruidoso. Adam attended school in Elida and graduated from Elida High School. He holds an associate degree from New Mexico State University in Agriculture Mechanics. After college Adam helped his father on the family farm and was involved with the 4-H Club, even taking the club to Antigua in the Caribbean. Also did a lot of traveling to such places as New Zealand, Australia and Alaska. While in Alaska Adam practiced one of his passions, and that is Gold Mining, with a Gold Dredging Company in Nome.
Adam has been involved with the Elida Fire Department and EMS for 25 years and has served as the Department Chief for the last 5 years to the present. He is known to everyone as a true volunteer at heart and has always dedicated his life to others. He has served as Director of the Elida Youth Fellowship, a member of the EMAUS High Plains Community. Adam also loved Antique cars and tractors, loved watching NASCAR racing and in the last couple of years took up bow hunting. On March 29, 2003, Adam married Beth Juhnke in Elida and was a member of the Elida Methodist Church. Adam was a very devoted husband, father, son and grandfather.
Adam is survived by his wife, Beth of Elida, his 3 sons, Ted, Scott and Tyler Anderson of Elida, his 2 daughters, Sarah Anderson and Amy Lyn Anthony of Elida, his parents, Ronald and Glenda, his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Juhnke, his 2 brothers, Harold Anthony of Aztec, NM, and Wil Anthony of Florida. Adam is also survived by his 2 sisters, Jana Roberts of Dora and Cherry Eckland-Douglas of Juneau, Alaska and a sister-in-law, Mary Hobbs. A grandson, Braxton Anderson-Muckols also survives him. Adam is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jalayna Roberts, Josi Roberts, Chantel Eckland, Warren Eckland, Michael Schrampfer, Megan Hobbs and William Hobbs.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made the Adam Anthony Memorial Fund, C/O of the Portales National Bank.
