Graveside services for Cynthia Elizabeth "Bethy" Tackett, age 96, will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Bill Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Cynthia E. "Bethy" Tackett was born the daughter of Walter and Ellie (Cordrey) Talley on September 5th, 1913 in Tahlequah, OK. She attended school and later met and married Artie William Tackett on October 1st, 1946. This union was blessed with an infant daughter, who sadly passed shortly after birth. Bethy, as her family knew her, worked several jobs including house mother in the girls dormitory at NSU, and at the local laundry. Bethy lived her entire life in the Tahlequah area. When she wasn't working, she loved watching any kind of sports and movies. She was very accomplished at crossword puzzles and enjoyed a quiet afternoon. Bethy was fond of horses and enjoyed riding and working in her flowerbeds. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to banter with her nieces and nephews. She always made time to read from her Bible, outlining passages special to her. She was of the Methodist faith. Bethy went home to her eternal rest on Sunday, September 6th, 2009 in Tahlequah, OK with her loved ones at her side.
Bethy is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Artie in 1953, an infant daughter, one sister Ethel Caviness and three brothers, Evans, Ross, and Henry Talley.
Those left to cherish her memory include nine nephews and nieces, Grady Caviness and wife Shirley of Riverton, IL, Brice Talley and wife Carolyn of Tulsa, OK, Fay Bolding and husband Jim of Tulsa, OK, Russell Talley of Oak Harbor, WA, Reuben Talley and wife Phyllis of Broken Arrow, OK, Barbara Brown and husband Harley of Tulsa, OK, Ellen Roberson and husband Jack of Henderson, NV, Delora Angel of Vacaville, CA, and Elizabeth "Betty" Gillard and husband Eugene of Henderson, NV, as well as many cousins and loved ones.
