Mrs. Charles (Lydia Ann) Samuelson, 80, of 42 Prairie Street, Hampshire, died Sunday at Sherman Hospital following two months of illness. She was born August 4, 1881 in Hampshire, the daughter of the late Abraham and Sarah Baker Aurand, and resided in Hampshire all of her life, She was a member of the Hampshire Evangelical United Brethren Church, and the Helping Hands Society of the church. Surviving are one son, Clarence; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Pearl) Gilbert, Mrs. L.G. (Mabel) Marks, both of Marengo, and Miss. Esther Samuelson of Hampshire; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1925; two sons, Levoy and Vernon, two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Hampshire Evangelical Brethren Church, the Rev. L. L. Huff officiating and burial will be in the Hampshire Center Cemetery [Elgin Courier News, 4-15-1962, Elgin.]
