From History of Bartholomew County Indiana - 1888, pg 291:
Hon. Arthur D. Galbraith, of Haw Creek Township, was born in that township, October 31, 1841, and was the son of Aeneas S. and Catharine (Winn) Galbraith, the former of whom was born in east Tennessee, of Irish descent, and the latter was born in Virginia, of English descent. He was reared on the old Galbraith homestead, where he was born, and at the age of twenty-two he adopted the vocation of farmer for himself, He was married January 16, 1864, to Sarah E. Henry. She was born near Crawfordsville, this State, and was the daughter of Joseph Henry. They began their married life on a farm in Haw Creek Township, in which they have ever since resided.
They have made but one move. That was in 1878, when they moved to their present farm. The whole attention of Mr. Galbraith was given to farming until 1886, since which time he has been in the grain business, but he still resides on the farm, and also attends to its management. He is the father of eight children: Oscar B., Tighlman, Charles, Byhonas, Walter, Harrold, Docia, and a son that died in infancy, unnamed. In politics, Mr. Galbraith is a Democrat. He was elected to the State Legislature in 1878, in which body he represented Bartholomew and Brown counties one term.
