Eugene Fitzgerald Lister, 10/25/1889-8/6/1925, son of Thomas William and Sarah J. Hood Lister. The Gadsden Times, Sat. afternoon, Aug. 8, 1925: "Fitzhugh Lister died in Colorado. Body is being brought home for burial, son of late Sheriff Tom Lister and member of one of the leading families of the county, died early Thurs. night at Manitoa, Colorado, victim of tuberculosis and complications. Body being brought by John Lister, his brother, who was recently called to his bedside. It will arrive here early next week and funeral will be held at the home of Gus Lister, another brother, living on So. 3rd Street. Deceased member injured at a football squad at 7th district agriculture at Albertville and it is said his long illness due to that fact. He was in Colorado for two years. Last year he suffered an attack of influenza and contacted double pneumonia. He never recovered from the latter and lingered for months as a helpless invalid. He as a strapping big boy when he was first hurt and gave promise of developing into a splendid man. Mr. Lister is survived by seven brothers and one sister as follows: J.R., Ed., Ike, John, Gus, Will, Bob and Miss Ethel Lister." Eugene Fitzgerald on tombstone. Fitzhugh on obituary.
