Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at a 2:00 PM Service in St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church, 354 Coulee Croche Rd. in Cankton) for Genevieve H. Breaux, 70, who passed away peacefully at 6:10 AM on Friday, September 4, 2009 at her residence in Cankton surrounded by her family.

Interment will be in Calvary Hill Cemetery in Cankton, where a Coptic funeral will be held.

Reverend Youstos Ghaly will officiate the services.

Survivors include two daughters, Emily Boudreaux and son-in-law, Robert Boudreaux of New Iberia, LA. and Carlene LeBlanc and son-in-law, Dana LeBlanc of Cankton, LA.; two sons, Ernest Randall Comeaux of Homer, LA. and Todd Comeaux and daughter-in-law, Pam G. Comeaux of Cankton, LA.; three adopted children, Mary A. Breaux, Catherine A. Breaux and John T. Breaux all of Cankton, LA.; her siblings, Eloise Joyce Manuel, Beverly Ann Huckaby, Janelle Patsy Gonzales and Alphan (Junior) Huckaby; fifteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Joseph Breaux; her parents, Alphan Huckaby and Helen D. Huckaby; her brothers, Warren Lee Huckaby and Wilton Lee Huckaby; and one daughter Ramona C. Daigle.

A native of St. Landry Parish and a resident of Cankton for over 33 years, Mrs. Breaux was a visionary dedicated to the distribution of rosaries and scapulars from the "Knotted Cord of Love Rosary Mission" to 162 countries around the world. She was a 1987 recipient of the Leonine Awards, given by Pope John Paul II in New York City, for her work with the rosaries.

A devoted wife, mother and esteemed poet, Mrs. Breaux was gifted and talented in arts and crafts. She loved telling stories of days gone by and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be John Breaux, Todd Comeaux, Ron Meehan, Joshua Boudreaux, Jeremy LeBlanc, Dana Gathe, Joseph Swearingen and Brendon Swearingen.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Sunday beginning at 10:00 AM and will continue on Monday until funeral services on Tuesday at St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church in Cankton.
