Kingsley Lake Yields Drowning Victim
Kingsley Lake - The body of William Padgett, 47, of 10341 Haverford Road, Jacksonville, was recovered from Kingsley Lake at 11:50 a.m. Monday by Clay County sheriff's department divers.
Padgett was standing up in a high power boat that was pulling two water skiiers Sunday shortly after noon when he was thrown from the boat as it made a sharp turn.
He could not swim, and attempts to rescue him were unsuccessful. The name of the driver of the boat was not available.
Dragging operations were begun by the sheriff's department divers and continued until the body was recovered Monday approximately 500 feet from where it disappeared.
Padgett is survived by a daughter, Charlene Lennos, of Jacksonville.
