Winifred Mattingly Porter was a native of the District of Columbia. She was a member of the Acorn Club, the Colonial Dames of America and the Magna Charta Society. She died on Thursday, November 1, 1945 at her home, 318 South 21st Street after a short illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Major General David Dixon Porter, United States Marine Corps who died in February 1944. Survivors included her daughter, Carlile Patterson Porter. Funeral services were held at her residence. Interment was at Arlington National Cemetery.
