Obituary:

Helen Louise Heaberlin was born April 7, 1924 the 8th of 10 children of Zeph Burt and Annabelle (Briggs) Burt.

She was raised in Lucas County and attended country school there. On December 23, 1939 Helen was united in marriage to George Woodrow "G.W." Heaberlin in Unionville, Missouri. The couple lived in the Knoxville area all their lives. They lived on the Bill DeJong farm for a few years and eventually moved to town. Helen and G.W. ran Heaberlin Saw & Mower Service together for many years. Helen also babysat children in her home for many years. She truly loved children, and took great pride in teaching and nurturing them through childhood.

In her spare time, Helen and G.W. loved to camp and had traveled all over the U.S. She also enjoyed her Wednesday afternoon Women's Club and the Rebekah Lodge. She was also a longtime member of the Free Methodist Church in Knoxville. Helen had a beautiful voice and imparted her love of music to her children. She completely centered her life on her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Helen passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Fleur Heights Care Center at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 26 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, G.W.; son, George and her siblings: Bonita, Edith, Cleo, Lloyd, Velta, Bessie, Edna and Worth.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Larry (Barb) of Osage Beach, MO; daughter, Betty (John) Wilke of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Amy Heaberlin of Des Moines; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Ruby Ver Steeg of Knoxville and many nieces, nephews and friends.
