Funeral services for Joan C. Rush, age 76, of Madisonville, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Willowhole Chapel in North Zulch. The Rev. Ernest McCollum officiated. Pallbearers were Bennie Rush, Wayne Rush, David Bowles, Don Clute, Quenton Rush and Matt Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were Tolbert Nash, Michael Jeffries and Raymond Rush. Burial followed in Willowhole Cemetery. Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Rush was born on March 20, 1931, in Mammoth, Mo., to W.L. and Mabel (Walrath) Clute and passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 24, in The Woodlands. She had lived most of her life in Madison County, where she attended First Baptist Church. Mrs. Rush loved to cook and was very good at it. She also collected china, glassware and antiques, and enjoyed going to auctions and estate sales. Mrs. Rush read books all the time and did extensive research on antiques before she bought them. She will be remembered as a good and loving wife to her husband. On Nov. 27 this year, Mr. and Mrs. Rush would have been married for 59 years. She traveled to almost every state with her husband in the pipeline business. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Rush is survived by her husband, S.P. "Boss" Rush of Madisonville; son Les Rush and his wife, Sandy, of Huntsville; daughter Rendy Harrison and husband Dub of Longview; brothers Donald Clute and wife Peggy, and Calvin Clute and wife Barbara, all of Madisonville; sisters Marie Nash and husband Tolbert of Leona, and Linda Carpenter and husband T.W. of Kerrville; two grandchildren Lesley Harrison and Jodi Foster and husband Chris, and many nieces and nephews.
